The Patriarchate of Constantinople

The role of the Constantinople See greatly decreased after the genocide of 1915. Today the flock of the Patriarchate of Constantinople is made up of several tens of thousands of Armenians residing in Turkey. Under the leadership of His Beatitude Armenian Patriarch of Constantinople and all of Turkey, there is the Patriarchal region – Turkey, which also includes Vicariate: Rumelihisary, Kayseri, Diyarbakir, Iskenderun. There are more than 30 churches.

Patriarch of Constantinople also performs secular duties, such as representing the interests of the Armenian community in front of the Turkish authorities.

The residence of the head is located in the Kumkaly quarter. Right opposite the residence of the Patriarch stands the Church of the Blessed Virgin, which has the status of a cathedral.
