St. Stephen’s Bell Tower under St. Nicholas Armenian Church (Kamianets Podilskyi)

Bell Tower of XV—XVI century was the part of St. Nicholas Armenian Church as for today lost monument of Armenian Christian religious architecture as of the end of XV located in Armenian part of the city of Kamianets Podilskyi in Armyanskaya street. Probably the Church was constructed in 1495 by Armenians arrived to Kamianets in 1380s took the function of cathedral due to which it became the center of social and religious life of Armenians residing in Kamianets. It was destroyed by communists in 1930s.

Approximately in 1565 the Bell Tower of Armenian cathedral was constructed within the territory of the temple. In 1633 St. Stephen’s Chapel is installed on the ground floor. In 1958 the building was refurbished.

In 2005 the land plot on which the ruins of St. Nicholas temple and St. Stephen’s Bell Tower located was transmitted the Armenian Community in the city of Kamianets Podilskyi and the cross stone (khachkar) was blessed on the ruins of the Church. In 2014 KP UOCH after restoration officially transmitted the ruins of St. Nicholas temple and St. Stephen’s Bell Tower to Armenians of Ukraine. On June 28, 2012 the Bell Tower was blessed by Griogris Buniatyan.
