Аrmenian Cathedral of Dormition of the Mother of God was constructed and blessed in 1363 and is a residence of Armenian Archbishops from the middle of the 14th century. Throughout its existence the cathedral was reconstructed and outfitted many times. However, over the course of history it remains religious and cultural center of Armenian Community in Lvov.

In Soviet period in 1946 the Armenian Cathedral was closed and played a role of national museum depository. In January 2000 the Cathedral was returned to the Armenian Apostolic Church and in April 20, 2001 the first divine service was celebrated after sustained interruption. On May 18, 2003 the Cathedral was blessed by the Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II.
